Rumour mongers tarnish hostel image
I read with apprehension the story of fear spread by rumour mongers about the Nguni hostel dwellers in Vosloorus.
As a hostel resident, I want to categorically state there is no truth in such rumours spread by residents living close to the compound. Many hostel dwellers are now back from holiday and none of the violence that was predicted has happened.
As one of the few hostel inmates who spent his holiday at the complex over the festive season, I wish to dispute the claims of violence by local residents as malicious. I also wish to state that rumours are spread by people who want to create disunity between hostel residents and their township neighbours.

Hostel residents have been living in harmony with townships residents for a long time, and people with ulterior motives should not spread false rumours. We all know there is lawlessness in our townships, but people should stop making hostels as flashpoints for organised crime and violence in the townships.
We are human beings with families like everyone else and wish to live in peace with our neighbours.
