Vosloorus SAPS visits Masithwalisane Secondary School

The police used the opportunity to educate learners about bullying and its impact, vandalism and the effect of cellphone usage at school.

As part of their back-to-school campaign, Vosloorus SAPS, in partnership with CPF and Social Crime Prevention, visited Masithwalisane Secondary School on January 21.

The purpose of the visit at the school based in Vosloorus, Extension 25, was to address learners about the seriousness of education and make them aware of the impact of crime in their lives.

This was the police’s fourth visit in a space of two weeks, following visits to Thuto-Lesedi Secondary School, Erasmus Monareng Secondary School and PT Xulu Secondary School a week before.

Communications officer at Vosloorus Police Station Capt Piet Rossouw said in addition to addressing learners about the seriousness of education and making them aware of the impact of crime, another purpose was to introduce sector managers, CPF members and social crime prevention.

“We want to encourage learners to make studying their number one priority and point them in the right direction about life. We want them to know they can only be successful in life if they take their education seriously. Otherwise, they will rot in prison,” said Rossouw.

Rossouw said the police were excited about the reception they received from all the schools they visited in the past two weeks.
