Matriculants encouraged not to drop the ball

Matriculants who are attending PT Xulu Secondary School in Vosloorus this year were encouraged not to achieve below the pass rate set by the class of 2018.

The class of 2018 flew the school flag high by setting a record pass as they achieved 82.9 per cent pass rate compared to 70.62 per cent achieved by the class of 2017.

The school principal, Princess Maleke, encouraged matriculants as she was delivering her speech to praise the good deeds of the class of 2018 during the assembly on January 11.

Mzikayise Ngada, the Democratic Alliance (DA) PR councillor deployed in Vosloorus, was invited to deliver a motivational speech to the class of 2019.

Maleke said she wants the class of 2019 to achieve nothing less than a 100 per cent pass rate. In order to achieve that she encouraged matriculants to start studying now.

In few words Maleke said: “Focus on your studies, go to church and stay away from bad friends who will have a negative influence on you. And stay away from drugs.”

At the end of her speech, Maleke thanked Ngada for the ongoing support he has been providing since he adopted the school some year ago.

In his speech, Ngada encouraged scholars to stay away from love relationships.

“If I were you I would have made books my number one priority. The time for boyfriends and girlfriends is coming and there will be plenty of it. Focus on building your future first. Make us (teachers, parents, community leaders) and yourself proud,” said Ngada.
