Peermont Children’s Trust dishes out hampers

Learners from several schools around Kathorus became this year’s beneficiaries of the Peermont Children Trust (PCT) which handed out food parcels to help families through the festive season.

For over 10 years the Peermont Children’s Trust (PCT), one of the Peermont Global Corporate Social Investment (CSI) programmes, has been providing meals, supervised aftercare, new school uniforms and school holiday food parcels for less fortunate primary school children in the disadvantaged areas that fall in the Emperors Palace catchment area.

Currently, the trust supports seven aftercare centres that provide for about 650 youngsters from 22 affiliated primary schools in Vosloorus, Katlehong, Thokoza, KwaThema and Tembisa. As part of its annual tradition, during the December holidays, the trust visited several of these centres, handing out food parcels to needy learners.

On the afternoon of November 21, it was the turn of youngsters at the Reahile Primary School Aftercare Centre in Katlehong, which has four affiliated schools, who each received food parcels for their learners.

The trust supports seven aftercare centres in Ekurhuleni which cater to about 650 learners from 22 affiliated primary schools. Apart from the food parcels, the learners also receive new uniforms at the start of each new school year from PCT. Learners also benefit from a feeding scheme as well as the supervised aftercare during the school term.
