Youth soccer tournament in Vosloorus a success

The organiser, Nthabiseng Khonza, said the tournament is held annually, and its aim is to teach local teams, particularly young people, how to run successful tournaments.

The Sports Eclipse Annual Soccer Tournament was held in Vosloorus recently.

The three-day soccer event began on October 1 and finished on October 3.

The quarter-finals and semi-finals were played at Vosloorus Ground C and D on October 1 and 2.

The finals took place at Vosloorus Stadium on October 3.

The contesting teams included players in the u-11, u-13, u-15 and u-17 categories drawn from various parts of Vosloorus.

The organiser, Nthabiseng Khonza, said the tournament is held annually, and its aim is to teach local teams, particularly young people, how to run successful tournaments.

“Every year we run such an event because we want local team managers to learn to run their teams in a professional way.

“This year we have introduced an award ceremony,” said Khonza.

The main award ceremony takes place on October 27.

Khonza thanked her partners Refiloe Mokhele, Tseko Tsotetsi and Themba Sibeko for helping her to organise the event.

The final results are as follow:

• u-11: TK Stars 1 – 0 KHG Warriors.

• u-13: Luck Birds 5 – 0 The Citizens.

• u-15: Lucky Birds 3 – 2 Logos.

• u-17: TK Stars 4 – 3 Takers.
