N3 highway accident at Van Buuren Road causes traffic chaos
Two people were killed in a collision on the N3 highway this morning.
A fatal accident at 5.35am this morning (Friday) caused traffic chaos for commuters.
The collision occurred on the N3 highway southbound at Van Buuren Road, in Bedfordview.
Traffic on the N3, the N12 west and the R21 highways was affected.
William Ntladi, district manager media liaison for Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Services (DEMS) said, “The collision involved two vehicles, namely, a light motor vehicle and a truck.
“Of the four occupants in the light motor vehicle, two were declared dead on scene and the other two were taken to the Sunshine Hospital and the Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital, respectively, in a serious condition.”
Four lanes of the highway were closed while emergency personnel worked on the scene.
EMPD officers were also on scene to conduct investigations.
