Vosloorus Stadium hosts Meat Express Cricket Clinics

Young cricketers from Vosloorus were taught the basics of cricket.

Meat Express Cricket Clinics were held in Vosloorus Stadium Ground B on October 6.

Young cricketers from Vosloorus were taught the basics of cricket.

Cricket drills guided by Umswenko Team were followed by four games where children played against the team of former cricket players who reside in East Field.

Isaac Phele from Vosloorus Cricket Club said the aim of the event was to revive the spirit of cricket in the former players.

“We would like the former players to play an active part in the sport and be involved in coaching. We also want children to develop a love for the sport. Most importantly, we want to spend quality time with children so that they will take the sport seriously,” said Phele.

He said some of the children who took part in the clinics don’t get a chance to play at school.

“We also managed to recruit some players for our team,” added Phele.

Children from seven years of age to 16 years old took part in the event.

Most of them came from the section around the Vosloorus Stadium (Zulu Section).
