Officers from the Ekurhuleni West Cluster SAPS, with the assistance of officers from the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit, arrested a 27-year-old man, last Thursday, for several offences.
The suspect, who was arrested in Tshabalala Street, Thokoza, was charged with dealing in and possession of dagga, possession of ammunition and possession of counterfeit money.
The arrest was made after police received information about the suspect’s whereabouts.
“Officers found the accused in the front yard of a Tshabalala Street home with several ziplock plastic packets of dagga in his possession,” explained Capt André de Jager, the spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni West Cluster SAPS.

During further questioning, the suspect told officers a large quantity of dagga was also hidden inside a back room on the premises.
“He claimed the dagga belonged to a man known only by the alias of Maseko and he was simply a runner for Maseko,” de Jager said.
Officers searched the back room, which the accused pointed out to them, and found 2 050 small ziplock plastic packets of dagga, 44 large ziplock plastic packets of dagga, 32.37kg of loose dagga valued at R133 350, two 9mm rounds of ammunition, a large amount of counterfeit money, and cash.
He will appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
