Police praise parents for cooperation in the crime-busting initiative

The suspect (24) who has been in hiding since the murder of a mother (37) and her daughter (9) was handed over by his parents to Zonkizizwe Police Station recently.

According to Rufus Tema, the communication official at Zonkizizwe Police Station, the police had been on the look-out for the suspect after the two were killed in their house on Tuesday, July 12, at Zonkizizwe Extention Three.

“The police received information from the husband (42) that he arrived home from work at about 5pm when he found the suspect (neighbour) in his house. As soon as the suspect noticed that the man of the house had arrived, he decided to run away. The complainant (husband) became suspicious and started to search the house. He discovered the lifeless bodies of both his wife and daughter in the bathroom with multiple injuries. The case was reported at the police station, and the police started with their investigation,” said Tema.

He said he would like to applaud the parents and the community for making efforts to bring the suspects to the police.

“This indeed is a partnership in practice needed if both police and the community are to work together in fighting a winning battle against crime,” said Tema.

The suspect is expected to appear in Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon to face charges of murder.
