My heart cries out for the youth

I read your editorial comment in the last issue about the plight of young people in our country and I am prompted to add my two cents’ worth.

I can only sum up what you stated about young people having been deprived of the choices that could have given them better options in life than nyaope, alcohol and sex. As young people, we should have been groomed from a young age and given the skills to shape our lives in a more positive direction. It is disturbing that black South African youths are more likely to be entrapped by all these negative aspects of life than the youths of other nationalities.

I urge young people to take responsibility for their lives and ensure that they escape the trap of a goalless life.
