Annual AFCKO tournament to be held in Thokoza

The African Full Contact Karate Organisation (AFCKO) will be hosting its tournament at the Thokoza Auditorium on May 26 at 8am.

Shihan Thulane Sibisi, the founder of AFCKO, said the event will see karatekas from all over the continent filling up the Thokoza Auditorium to full capacity.

“It will be one of the best tournaments AFCKO ever hosted. I would like to plead with everyone who will attend the event to bring their own flags to represent their teams, countries, provinces or municipalities, but this is not compulsory. The officials must wear their organisation’s colours and this is compulsory,” he said.

He also said: “Fighting rules that will be used on the day are those of Full Contact Karate – Kyokushin. Fighting time will be three minutes with additional two minutes in case there is a draw. ”

Sibisi added: “All participants must organise their own transport and accommodation. The entrance at the door will be free. The event organisers will not be held accountable for any damages, loss or injury on any particular person.”

Awards will be given to those who place from first to fourth place in all divisions.

Females are expected to weigh 55kg, 65kg or 66kg in the open division while males are expected to weigh 55kg, 60kg, 70kg or 80kg, also in the open division.

Breast cover is compulsory on female fighters.

Sibisi said all fighters are expected to wear clean, white karate suits.
