Live your life to the fullest without regrets

Mae West said that “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”

Pretend you are being recorded as a model by which your children and grandchildren will learn how to live life to the fullest without any regrets.

I am certain that you would attack everything with the aggression of a champion athlete who is getting his last opportunity to stake his claim in the history books.

Always remember to follow through completely because that is the common denominator of all winners. It is said that losers let it happen but winners make it happen.

Some years back while I was heading up the technical department for a blue chip organisation, the operations director had a favourite question he liked to ask the managers when he felt that a manager could have done better.

The question was: “If it was your own company would you have taken the same decision you took?.”

At first, it was just a normal question, but later on I understood exactly what he meant. I’ll be forever grateful that I understood the question because it propelled me to achieve greater things and since then, I have taken responsibility and accountability for my work as if it was my own company.

I gave my work everything I had and took no shortcuts. Most people have the attitude that the company will pay me anyhow, I only work here or I will work as little as I can and benefit as much as I can.

That attitude will never get you anywhere, you are cheating yourself because it does not bring out the best in you. You need to ditch that attitude right away.

Remember life is too short to learn everything by yourself, why reinvent the wheel? Rather use tested recipes by the masters who have done it before you.
