Ezenkozi youngster go up against local schools

Dr Jomo Sono, the owner and coach of Jomo Cosmos (Ezenkosi) that is playing in the National First Division (NFD), invited four high schools from Vosloorus Township to play against the Jomo Cosmos u-19 teams at Vosloorus Stadium.

The four participating schools were Lethulwazi Secondary School, Masithwalisane Secondary School, Erasmus Monareng Secondary School and Thuto Lesedi Secondary School.

It started with the launch of the games at Lethulwazi Secondary School in East Field on April 26. The launch was followed by the games that took place on April 29 at the Vosloorus Stadium.

The first game was between Jomo Cosmos and Masithwalisane. Cosmos won 3-1. It was followed by Cosmos and Thuto Lesedi. Cosmos won the game 2-1. The young Cosmos won their third game against Erasmus Monareng 3-1 while in the last game they defeated Lethulwazi 2-0.

Wiseman Langa, the community liaison officer for Jomo Cosmos, said this is Cosmos’ way of building a strong ongoing relationship with the local schools.

“We are mobilising the local schools to be part of Jomo Cosmos. At the same time, we want to improve the state of football in the township with an aim of scouting talent. We are aware that there is talent at these schools,” said Langa.

These matches were used as the curtain raiser between Jomo Cosmos and Super Eagles that Ezenkosi won 3-2.
