Public drinking epidemic

It is becoming fashionable these days for people to drink beer on the streets.

Many people, both men and women, seem to be doing this without being bothered about being arrested by the police. It is quite common these days to see a person, friends, a couple or even a group of people walking and drinking alcohol freely on the streets.

This is unacceptable and a blatant violation of the laws of the country which forbids this kind of barbaric behaviour. Such behaviour must be discouraged by all means and those found breaking the law must be dealt with severely.

What kind of example are adults who drink alcohol in public setting to the youth in our townships? Society cannot and should not allow this type of immorality and lawlessness to erode our morals.

The police must be out in full force and arrest any person found breaking the law by drinking alcohol in public. Taverns must also stop selling “take-away” liquor to their clients.
