CORRECTION

In our February 21, 2018, edition, an error was printed on p5 in the story headlined "Woman (35) claims that the police failed to protect her".

“In Kathorus Mail of February 21, 2018 on page 5, a report was printed titled “Woman (35) claims that the police failed to protect her.” The same report was published online.

It featured a mistake which the publication rectifies.

The story stated that “when asked about the case, the Kathorus SAPS Cluster media spokesperson, Capt Mega Ndobe, confirmed the rape charge case against the SAPS colonel.”

This was not the case.

Police spokesman Capt Ndobe was incorrectly quoted saying: “I can confirm that we have received a rape charge complaint laid by a 35-year-old Katlehong female against the colonel.” This is incorrect.

It should have read: “I can confirm that we have received a defeating the ends of justice complaint laid by a 35-year-old Katlehong female against the SAPS colonel.”

The publication hereby retracts the statement, confirms that no rape case against an SAPS colonel and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
