Local church invites police head

Sufficient Grace Ministries at Sphamandla informal settlement invited Katlehong SAPS commander Brig Phumla Mdlankomo on August 20 to motivate female members of the church and to celebrate Women's Month with them.

Mdlankomo honoured the invite and was applauded by many church members upon her arrival.

Delivering her speech, Mdlankomo advised parents on the best ways to raise their children and how to help their children stay away from crime.

“Each and every women must play her role of being a parent at home. Teach your children good values and things that you will be proud of,” Mdlankomo said.

She advised young women and children to respect their parents.

Mdlankomo advised parents to report any form of abuse against them.

“You must not wait until it is too late,” she advised women.

Communications official at Katlehong SAPS Capt Mega Ndobe, said the event was part of the Women’s Month celebration.

“We would like women to feel safe not only during this month but 365 days of the year,” said Ndobe.

A Memeza for Safety and Crime Report (a hand alarm that women can use to protect each other from criminals) was demonstrated to the church members.

All church members were happy after the presentation and hoped for similar events in the future.
