Punters should keep a close check on card changes for today’s race meeting at the Vaal, with numerous scratchings and jockey and equipment changes expected.

Yesterday’s Turffontein night meeting had 17 scratchings, with 11 attributed to “insufficient recovery time” a er action at Turffontein on Sunday or the Vaal Classic track on Tuesday.

For today’s Vaal meeting, there were already nine card withdrawals yesterday.

No fewer than 30 equipment changes had been notified.Further amendments are possible and races to keep a particular eye on are the second, the seventh and the ninth.

The latter contest features six runners who raced on Tuesday and might yet show ill effects.

One of these is Tricia, who won Race 8 at 13-1 and has incurred a weight penalty. She will now carry 58kg.
