WIN: Festival hit ‘Tswalo’ heads to Playhouse

One of the remarkable productions to be seen on this year's New Stages roster in May is the multiple award-winning one-hander, Tswalo.

THE Playhouse Company’s annual New Stages Festival traditionally affords theatre goers the opportunity of seeing a fresh crop of cutting edge stage-works that are making waves on the national performing arts circuit.

One of the remarkable productions to be seen on this year’s New Stages roster in May is the multiple award-winning one-hander, Tswalo.

The product of hot-property creative team Billy Langa (writer, performer), Mahlatsi Mokgonyana (director, lighting designer) and John Withers (composer, sound

designer), Tswalo is described by its creators as ‘a body of poems constructed to fragment a narrative that is carried in both physicality and voice.

It is placed in a timeless space of existence, which explores the primary themes of being, chaos and beauty, blood and birth, love and war in the same frame.’
