Durban International Film Festival Comes to Embo
CAP studios in Embo hosts screenings of the Durban International Film Festival.
THE Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) held its 44th annual festival this July, bringing some of the movies for screening in Embo in partnership with CAP Studios.
Bringing together filmmakers from around the world, DIFF partnered up with Cap Studios, an NGO based in Embo focused on uplifting the youth through filmmaking and other creative arts.
Under the Isiphethu Programme of DIFF, some of the films on offer this year were taken on tour for screening at three locations in the province, and because of CAP Studios, Embo was one of the locations.
The event included not only the screening of films but also a masterclass on filmmaking. The masterclass was facilitated by Khulekani Mgovu Mdletshe, a filmmaker.

Chim Onyebilanma, the director of CAP Studios celebrated the milestone.
“For us to partner with this internationally known film festival and to bring some of that to inspire and equip our youth is priceless.”
The crowd was very eager to learn about what the Durban International Film Festival and Isiphethu Programme had to share with them. Also at the festival was the KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission (KZN Films) to share more career opportunities and industry programmes.
Dr Ismail Mahomed, the director of the Centre of Creative Arts at UKZN and one of the organisers of DIFF, said they are delighted to partner with CAP Studios and thanked them for their support of DIFF.
“We look forward to partnering with them again in the future,” they said.
