Shortened route for Comrades Marathon runners

The route has been shortened by 299m.

THE Comrades Marathon Association has announced that this year’s route has been shortened to 89.885km as a result of the current roadworks.

They said this was after the completion of the official route course measurement conducted by the Comrades Marathon Association’s (CMA) Route Portfolio Road Traffic Inspectorate, Msunduzi Traffic, and the Department of Transport, CMA Race Director, Rowyn James.

 They confirmed that this year’s Comrades runners will be running 299m shorter than the last race. 

There are six cut-off points along the route, and they are as follows: 

Area, cut-off running time, time of day, kilometres to go, and kilometres done:

Lynnfield Park, 02:40:00, 08:10, 74,61km, 5,57km

Cato Ridge, 04:30:00, 10:00, 59,90km, 30,28km

Drummond, 06:10:00, 11:40, 45,91km, 44,27km

Winston Park, 08:10:00, 13h40, 32,57km, 57,61km

Pinetown, 09:30:00, 15h00, 21,32km, 68,86km

Sherwood 11:10:00, 16h40, 9km, 80,88km
