Planned water outages to leave taps dry across Durban

The water outages are due to urgent repairs at the Wiggins Water Treatment Works and a bulk supply line repair in Drummond.

THE eThekwini Municipality informed residents of planned water outages that will impact Durban residents on Tuesday, November 9, and parts of the outer west, inner west, and northern regions on Wednesday and Thursday.

The municipality took to its Facebook page at the weekend to inform residents of Tuesday’s water outage. This outage is expected to last from 08:00 until 14:00.

“The interruption is due to an urgent need to replace a bulk sales meter at the Wiggins Water Treatment Works by Umgeni Water. This requires shutting off the high-level pump line which feeds from Umgeni Works into the Berea/Ridge areas,” said the City.

Repairs will have a major impact on the western aqueduct downstream of Inchanga and this affects the northern and western reservoirs.
