Fabulous reads – Children’s novel bursts with adventure

Book review - The StrangeWorlds Travel Agency by LD Lapinski.

The StrangeWorlds Travel Agency, LD Lapinski, Pan Macmillan, ISBN: 9781510105942

THE world in which this novel, the first of a promised series of stories by L.D. Lapinski about The Strangeworlds Travel Agency, allows people to visit different worlds by simply jumping into a suitcase.

Young Flick Hudson happens upon the travel agency by pure accident and is only too thrilled to set off to visit worlds that are quite literally just a step away from her own.

When I read this book I highly intrigued, then confused and, luckily, it all ended up making sense later on in the story.” said Evangeline Thomassen who, at 12-years-old, is the same age as the girl in the book.

Evangeline said she would definitely recommend the book and described it as both whimsical and child-friendly, possibly even used as it a bedtime story for younger readers.

“This book as a great bedtime story, it has many great chapters, and would be fun to listen to,” she said. “This book could also be a good pastime for older children, or even a parent who needs to escape from the world for a while.”

The large font, she noted, also made it accessible for even those who struggle to read due to learning difficulties.

“I hope you that anyone who reads this book has as much fun as I did,” she said.

The tale has parallels with classic children’s tales like The Neverending Story, in which a fictional world is in danger of disappearing. The series continues with The Edge of the Ocean which is due to be published in May 2021.
