Films/series and music to enjoy during the #Covid19Lockdown

Not sure what to do with your free time during the lockdown? Check out this short list of the best films, series and music.

THE national lockdown has provided us with tons  of spare time, especially if you’re not working.

Here are some movies, series and new albums that you can enjoy during this period.

Films

Crip Camp (Netflix): This feel-good Netflix documentary covers the happenings of a disability camp in the ’70s called, Camp Jened and its influence on the American disability rights movement of that time. The free-love era was at its peak and this film beautifully captures that, most importantly the campers felt at home with fellow disabled people. The film reminds viewers of how underrepresented disabled people are in all facets of life.

The Hustle (Showmax): Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson feature in this comedy as con-artists who prey on rich men who have done women wrong in the past. Two great female leads put in a fun performance with cool stunts and a killer wardrobe.

Spiderman Into the Spider-verse (Netflix): The Academy award-winning animation was one of the most talked-about releases in 2018 and it follows the story of high school student, Miles Morales, who gets bitten by a radioactive spider. With the help of Peter Parker and other similar superheroes, he hones his superpowers.

Series

The third season sees Jason Bateman’s character, Marty Byrde, encounter new challenges with the drug cartel he launders money for, the community he lives in and the FBI.

High Fidelity (Hulu): This rom-com series is a re-adaptation of the film High Fidelity (2000) and is produced by the lead Zoe Kravitz, who plays the role of Rob, a record store owner in a gentrified Brooklyn where she tries to make sense of her past relationships while getting over her true love and navigating the New York’s fast-paced dating scene. The soundtrack, the cast, the costume design and the pop culture references are what makes this show an absolute hit!

Tiger King – Murder, Mayhem & Madness (Netflix): This much talked about limited series is about a Zoo owner, Joe Maldonado-Passage, who is involved in the underworld breeding of exotic cats, it also visits the private life of the flamboyant animal lover.
