Festive Baroque concert with alto, Monika

At the end of the performance, the audience will be treated to complimentary drink and snacks.

BAROQUE 2000 celebrates Christmas at its last concert of the 2019 season on Sunday, 22 December at 11.30am at the Church of the Mariannhill Monastery.

Monika Voysey, a rich and beautiful alto voice from Cape Town, will be the soloist in two of the most moving arias of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Christmas Oratorio: Bereite Dich Zion and Schlafe Mein Liebster.

Also on the programme will be the famous Concerto Grosso by Archangelo Corelli Op6 No8 Fatto per la Notte di Natale (Composed for the Night of Christmas) and Antonio Vivaldi’s Concerto for four violins in B minor RV 580.

The programme will be complemented by the Suite in D major by Jeremiah Clarke which includes the very popular piece called the The Prince of Denmark’s March for trumpet and oboe.

At the end of the performance, the audience will be treated to complimentary drink and snacks.

Tickets are sold at the door fort R150 each. There is no charge for children.

There is ample, safe and free parking and the Monastery Tea Garden will be open for refreshments and light lunches.
