I’M Absolutely Fine! – A Manual for Imperfect Women by Annabel Rivkin and Emilie McMeekan is a best friend packaged in a book.

The authors say women between 35 and 55 “are the healthiest, wealthiest, most emotionally intelligent and digitally literate generation of women in history”.

They identify these women as midadults – an in so doing have re-branded the tired, rather negative term, ‘middle age’.

Midadults are doing it all but sprinkling the traumas, dramas, challenges with a lively sense of humour.

They value their female friends and by honest sharing, get through the tough times as imperfect people in an imperfect world.

It is a no-holes-barred book discussing from therapists and the types of tears shed, to sex – women have less sex on the brain but have it for longer.

And, did you know itchy knickers is not an infection, but a state of mind?

The book rambles over a variety subjects the same way a bunch of good friends would, over bottles of wine. There is always support, analysis, understanding, tears, anger and hilarity among women when they share – and that’s just within the first 10 minutes.

With headings such as The Horror of Bumping Into Someone You Shagged, The Psychology of Ordering and Conversations You Have With Yourself in the Bath, confirms the author throws out the real issues women think about and do, so you know you are indeed a member of this special pack and can run howling with the wolves, with confidence.

You read, you relate, you feel great that you are not alone navigating this minefield called life. A book for you and your friends to indulge in.
