WESTVILLE Theatre Club is proud to stage Oscar Wilde’s most renowned comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest, from 27 to 20 September and again from 2 to 5 October.
Audiences will be transported to a Victorian era when two bachelors, John ‘Jack’ Worthing and Algernon ‘Algy’ Moncrieff, create alter egos named Ernest to escape their social responsibilities.
They attempt to win the hearts of two women who, conveniently, claim to only love men called Ernest.
The pair struggle to keep up with their own stories and become tangled in a tale of deception, disguise and misadventure.
The elaborate plot ridicules Victorian sensibilities with some of the best-loved, and indeed bizarre, characters to be found on the modern stage.

The play is directed by Maya Zozulya, winner of the Best Director Award in the Westville Theatre Club One Act Play Festival of 2019.
The fabulous cast of the play makes it even more hilarious and well-anticipated.
Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 7.30pm except on Sunday, 29 September when the doors open at 1 pm and show starts at 1.30pm.
Tickets are R100 per person. If you book a table for eight, it is only R90 per person. R60 for pensioners/scholars on 29 September only.
