The Gorge Private Game Lodge & Spa nestles in Oribi Gorge on the South Coast and is an award-winning five-star boutique lodge that is owner run. The lodge prides itself on offering unsurpassed luxury and complete tranquility in a beautiful area of KwaZulu Natal.

Beautifully appointed suites and exclusive villas offer a magnificent view of the Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve – a place known for its wealth of smaller wildlife species and even leopards. Oribi Gorge is also a great destination for bird lovers, boasting over 250 species.

The sandstone suites and villas are equipped with floor to ceiling glass to showcase the magnificent gorge views. Other features include comfortable beds, an ensuite bathroom, heating & cooling system, coffee & tea making station, mini bar, satellite television, a DVD player and a private balcony. The villas are built on the edge of the sandstone cliffs and has an additional private outdoor shower.

The lodge facilities are exceptional and include a reception area, lounge area, bar, restaurant, boma, swimming pool, spa, and various conference venues.

Game drives are offered at the lodge and offer an opportunity to get up-close with animals such as Oribi, wildebeest, zebras, black backed jackals, leopards, lynxs, Samango monkeys, warthogs and bush pigs.

There are several hiking trails that wind through the indigenous forests, along the Mzimkulwana River and up to Hoe Poe Falls; as well as various mountain bike trails along the escarpment.

Guests wanting to experience a little adventure can enjoy the longest, fastest and highest zipline in Africa, stretching across 4.5 kilometers of the forest.

Sitting quietly on the edge of the sandstone cliffs, guests are able to view a colony of some 150 Cape Vultures as they go about their daily life. Vultures are under threat of extinction, so to be able to see them in their natural habitat is a truly rewarding experience.

The lodge is also only a short 35 minute drive from three blue flag swimming beaches and approximately 50 minutes away from several sought-after golf courses.
