Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge nestles in the private Sabi Sand Game Reserve, which forms part of the greater Kruger. It is unlike any other lodge found in the Kruger and is recognized by National Geographic as a Unique Lodge of the World. Sculpted into the land and boasting natural light and open spaces, Earth Lodge is one of the most environmentally sensitive lodges in Africa.
From a distance it is difficult to locate the lodge as it blends in perfectly with the bush, with only a concealed corridor that leads down to the entrance of the lodge. Arriving at the lodge, one only sees a concealed corridor that leads down to the entrance of the lodge which looks out onto the bushveld and is surrounded by a rocky water feature that makes it seem as if a river runs through the lodge.
Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge focuses on the well-being of their guests and has successfully managed to create an environment where guests are able to truly immerse themselves in nature. From the raw materials used in construction to guest facilities such as a meditation garden, holistic spa and gym that all overlook the bushveld. Other facilities include an underground wine cellar with over 6000 bottles of wine, an outdoor boma sculpted from tree roots, an indoor/outdoor dining area that overlooks a waterhole, a library and an art gallery.
Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge breaks away from safari traditions and boasts 13 ultra-luxurious suites that are innovative in design. The glass-fronted suites have unique wooden furnishings and feature en-suite bathrooms, outdoor showers and a private plunge pool.
Sharing an unfenced border with the Kruger, the Sabi Sands Game Reserve is home to all members of the Big Five, along with cheetah, wildebeest, hyena, zebra and more than 300 species of birds.
Guests to the Sabi Sabi Game Reserve enjoy early morning and evening open-vehicle game drives and bush walks led by professional rangers and Shangaan trackers. Being a private reserve, rangers are allowed to drive off road, affording up-close encounters with a variety of wildlife species and incredible photographic opportunities.
