WIN: High School Musical comes to town

Five lucky Highway Mail readers can each win double tickets to the show.

FRESH from its sell-out performances in Johannesburg, High School Musical, the stage production of Disney’s smash-hit film, will soon be in Durban at the Playhouse Theatre, and it’s time to get your ‘head in the game’.

The musical production is a fun, teenage love story featuring basketball jock Troy Bolton and brainiac Gabriella Montez who meet on vacation at a ski resort while singing in a karaoke competition.

When the two end up at the same high school, they must navigate the expectations of their friends, teachers and parents while exploring their love of singing, and each other.

Can they out-perform thespian stalwarts and leads of the drama club, Sharpay and Ryan, to become the stars of their high school’s musical, while not letting everyone down around them?

This will be the 37th production for acclaimed producer/director Nick Jourdan, who has been responsible for bringing The Adams Family, Spamalot and last year’s smash-hit show Sister Act to the Playhouse Theatre.

The young cast and crew of High School Musical boast a superior level of talent and deliver a ball-bouncing, toe-tapping, heart-warming performance that will entertain audiences of all ages.

The production leads, Shannon Howard as Gabriella Montez and Joshua Randall as Troy Bolton, head up this stellar cast which comes complete with interfering friends, presidents of the drama club, an over-the-top drama teacher, a stern basketball coach and an exciting, show stopping, basketball routine.

The play starts from 18 June to 23 June at the Playhouse Drama Theatre.
