Fabulous reads: Dystopian tale is filled with twists

Book review - We See Everything by William Sutcliffe.

We See Everything, William Sutcliffe, Jonathan Ball Publishers, ISBN: 9781408890196

From the author who brought us the popular book, The Wall, comes a brand-new dystopian YA novel set in a war-ruined London. We See Everything will send readers on a twisted adventure.

Lex and Alan are both teenage boys living in London. Not the London that you know, but rather a hollowed-out shell of broken roads and ash. They’re not friends. In fact, they’re enemies, although they’ve never met. Alan works for The Base and his job is to watch and report back on the movements of the enemy. When Alan lands his dream job – his very own armed drone, he’s given a target, the leader of the rebels – Lex’s father. All he must do is push a button. No questions asked.

Lex is a messenger for The Corps. Light on his feet and an expert at avoiding The Base’s drones, he delivers messages between the rebel leaders. No questions asked. We follow the story of these two boys as they navigate the ins and outs of choices or death.

A brilliant read for all dystopian lovers. The characters were complicated and not wholly likable but Sutcliffe provides a graphic and imaginative world setting that was seemingly effortless to create.
