Fabulous reads – Journey with the dead

Book review - Embassy of the Dead by Will Mabbitt and Chris Mould (illustrator).

Embassy of the Dead, Will Mabbitt and Chris Mould (illustrator), Pan Macmillan, ISBN: 9781510104556

DO you believe in ghosts? What would you do if a ghost appeared right in front of you and offered up a parcel in exchange for a signature?

Jake is not afraid of ghosts and he most definitely signed for the parcel. A small, simple thing that would change his life in a very big way.

ALSO READ: Fabulous reads – Kid’s novel takes reading to another level

Just by opening the box and finding the finger, a Death Order was placed on him by the strict Embassy of the Dead. On the run and in need of a solid plan to survive, he teams up with the ghostly deliveryman, Stiffkey, and a host of other quirky characters.

The book is aimed at middle-grade readers and is interspersed with lovely bits of artwork. The story is wholly original and may be slightly grotesque in some scenes for more sensitive readers. It is action-packed and, judging by the ending, a second book may be on its way!
