Fabulous reads – Fifty Shades finale is more than its sex scenes

Book review - Fifty Shades Freed by E.L. James.

Fifty Shades Freed, E.L James, Penguin Random House, ISBN 0345803507

FIFTY Shades Freed is the third and final installment of the erotic romance, Fifty Shades trilogy by British author EL James.

After accepting billionaire entrepreneur CEO Christian Grey’s proposal in Fifty Shades Darker, Anastasia ‘Ana’ Steele knows that loving Christian will not be easy, and that being together will pose challenges that neither of them can anticipate.

Ana must learn to share Christian’s luxurious lifestyle without sacrificing her own identity. Christian, on the other hand, has to battle his compulsion to control as he wrestles with the demons of his tormented past.

The book begins when Ana and Christian’s return to Seattle after a long honeymoon.

Christian is upset to find that Ana has kept her maiden name, Steele, at work. After some resistance, Ana relents and changes her name at work to Grey after realising how important it is to Christian.

I enjoyed the many twists in the tale which is actually the reason I chose to read the book in the first place.

It’s not just an erotic romance as people would like to believe, it has a genuine story-line, which speaks of love and passion; relationships; keeping your own identity; learning to accept each other; dealing with the past, present and future; adapting to what life throws at you and learning from mistakes.

Drama unfolds when Christian is away on a business for a few days and Ana receives a call from her former boss, Jack Hyde. He has kidnapped Mia Grey (Christian’s sister) and demands $5 million in two hours. Ana tries to resolve this matter herself.

I thought the author penned in too many sex scenes, however, she’s very descriptive in expressing the characters’ emotions.

Rating: I’d give it a seven out of 10 and believe its a good read for newly married couples.
