Tango to Argentinian Milonga at Le Domaine

The dancing and the music are going to be an absolute treat.

DON’T miss the Milonga – Tango evening at Le Domaine’s Club de Vie, 100 Acutts Drive in Hillcrest on Friday, 20 April at 7.30pm.

A Milonga is essentially a well-structured Argentinian dance party.

The evening traditionally consists of sets of tangos (usually between three and five tangos in each set).

These sets are called Tanda. Each set is, in turn, separated by a song or two that are not Tango in style, kind of like an intermission.

The intermission is called a Cortina (a curtain in Spanish). The music played during the Cortina can be anything from Ballroom, Salsa to even Club music.

In an Argentinian Milonga, it is expected of dancers to change partners during the course of the evening.

In a Milonga, a couple dances for the duration of a Tanda. Then they sit down during the Cortina. This gives them a chance to rest and scout the dance floor for the next potential dance partner (traditionally in a form of elaborate eye contacts and gestures).

The Cortina also serves to give the non-Tango dancers a change to have the floor to themselves.

Musical artists for the evening are Filip Kormuth on piano, Marianna Eriksen on violin and Annalie Herbst-van Rooyen on vocals.

The dancing and the music are going to be an absolute treat.

Tickets are R65 each. Booking is essential, contact Jo on 031 716 8000.
