Fabulous reads – Killer thriller will capture you

Book review - The Nowhere Man by Gregg Hurwitz.

The Nowhere Man (Orphan X #2), Gregg Hurwitz, Penguin Random House, ISBN: 9781405910743

EVAN Smoak protects those who are unable to defend themselves but in his latest novel, the tables have turned.

Trying to pick up the pieces of his life from the previous book, Evan is soon abducted and taken to an unknown location where he is housed in what one could only call a luxurious prison. His captor, known only to him as René, only keeps him alive to siphon his money.

What he doesn’t know is that he has just snagged one of the infamous, and most wanted members of the Orphan project.

Evan has people depending on him and the longer he remains a prisoner, the flames of life of two innocent children begin to dim.

In Hurwitz’s latest novel, he has taken a completely different approach to Evan’s character evolution by forcing the hardy assassin to do a bit of introspection.

After the fast-paced and adrenaline-pumping start, the story hits a forgivable slow down.

This change of pace helps create a much deeper connection to Smoak’s character as he battles his own demons while trying to survive.

The research that has gone into making this novel come to life is vibrantly evident on the pages as the detail is unrivaled.

This is a must-read for any thriller and spy novel fan.
