Fabulous reads – Don’t be left in the dark

Book review - Hiding in Plain Sight by Susan Lewis.

Hiding in Plain Sight (Andee Lawrence #4), Susan Lewis, Penguin Random House, ISBN: 9781 7808 96076

THIS was my first Lewis book and I feel I may have missed out on the excitement and draw of the series and subsequently, this latest release.

The reviews have been raving and positive from her small but aggressively loyal reader following.

This fourth book is very personal for the main character and I wonder if I had started at the beginning of the series, the characters would feel more familiar and make this review warmer.

The story itself has an interesting premise as a stranger stops ex-detective, Andee Lawerence, on the street.

The stranger seems familiar. It’s her sister, her dead sister.

Her first words after 30 years are “Remember me?”

It’s chilling and the human emotions are written beautifully and are entirely believable and chilling.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first few chapters.

Penny is Andee’s missing sister.

She disappeared as a teenager and after years of searching and pleading for her return, was ultimately presumed dead.

Where has she been? Close. Too, close actually.

I would suggest reading from Behind Closed Doors as these characters felt stale and stilted.

I had minimal personal connection to them even at the most horrifying of times.

The previous books contain character building and development whereas Hiding in Plain Sight is an obvious continuation with little backstory for the first-time readers.
