Dance music for Friends recital

Latvian pianist Agnese Eglina will perform at the Durban Jewish Centre.

FRIENDS of Music Association’s next recital on 3 October at the Durban Jewish Centre, 44 KE Masinga (Old Fort) Road, Durban, will feature pianist, Agnese Eglina.

The Latvian pianist invites the public to her solo recital made up of a dazzling, vigorous and insightful whirl of dance music and dance-inspired pieces through the ages of music history.

This creates an opportunity to explore how the pulsing dance rhythms have evolved and merged with rich layers of symbols and meaning throughout many generations.

Prelude performer is 15-year-old pupil of Kharwastan Secondary School, pianist, Ethan Mackenzie.

He started playing piano when he was eight, and is also learning to play the guitar. Other than music he also enjoys soccer, swimming, cricket and volleyball.

He is accompanied by Melissa Greyvenstein.

Tickets are R100 for visitors, R80 for members and R20 for students and orchestral students.
