Hill defends Scottburgh title

Hillcrest MTB rider, Andrew Hill, is the first person to defend his title at the Sappi Scottburgh MTB race on Sunday.

LOCAL racer, Andrew Hill, and pre-race favourite, Bianca Haw, took home the titles in their ninth edition of Sappi Scottburgh MTB Race on Sunday.

It was exciting racing all the way to the finish as Andrew and former riding partner, Tyronne White, fought it out for the top spot.

“A lot of the local community get behind and support this race. There are a lot of passionate mountain bikers in this area who put a lot of their time into track building and showcasing what they have to offer,” said Andrew.

As Andrew crossed the finish line he also became the first rider to defend his title at the event.

“It is an honour to have won this race two years in a row and to have my name on a trophy that has Burry Stander’s name on it is an even greater privilege.”

Following Andrew home was Tyronne White, followed by Jedson Toomes in third place.
