Wacky social media trends: Donald ‘Trumped’ by the #RompHim and Demi Lovato

Apparently more people care whether or not the #Romphim becomes a thing, than whether President Trump leaked classified information.

SOCIAL media has become part of our daily lives. Whether we use it as a platform for news or socialisation, it is difficult to escape it.

However, not a day goes by that I am not shocked by social media trends. And yesterday was no exception.

When allegations surfaced that US president Donald Trump allegedly leaked classified information to the Russian government, social media (particularly Twitter) exploded with outrage from the public.

It is a pretty big deal, and yet, somehow this bombshell was overshadowed by fashion issues and celebrities.

According to Trends24 a lot of Americans were more interested in discussing a Kickstarter campaign attempting to make the romper the ‘new favourite summer outfit’ for men. Go figure.

People had mixed feelings and the #RompHim quickly overtook the #BondTrumpBond discussions as the campaign kicked off.

Now, the romper, also known as a playsuit, is essentially a onesie for adults.

What’s more, internationally American singer and actress, Demi Lovato completely stole the limelight on the social media sphere with the release of the video of her new track, No Promises.

For the majority of the day the #NoPromisesVideoToday trended globally on Twitter.

While the Trump controversy took a back seat at fourth place.
