International play looks at racial prejudice

Starring a fine ensemble cast from the United States, We Live Here opens in The Playhouse Drama Theatre in Durban on Friday, 5 May.

THE International Arts Foundation (INF) of New Orleans, in association with The Playhouse Company, presents the South African premiere of the acclaimed stage drama We Live Here by American playwright Harold Ellis Clark, whose work has been compared to the plays of South Africa’s Atholl Fugard.

The powerfully-written work looks at racial prejudice when a young black couple move into a ‘white’ suburb of New Orleans.

It addresses the burning issues of hatred, fear and intolerance, which challenge communities the world over.

Starring a fine ensemble cast from the United States, We Live Here opens in The Playhouse Drama Theatre in Durban on Friday, 5 May at 7.30pm, with further performances on Saturday, 6 May at 2.30pm and 7.30pm, and Sunday, 7 May at 2pm.

Tickets for We Live Here are R175 per person throughout, except for ‘Golden Circle’ tickets at R250 per person from row A to row E for the evening performances on Friday, 5 May and Saturday, 6 May.
