The Bones of You, Debbie Howells, Pan Macmillan, ISBN: 9781447276036
If you’re a fan of Gone Girl, then this book probably isn’t for you.
It’s a psychological thriller sure, but the likeness ends there.
It is filled with tantalising twists and is dark but it is far from easy reading.
Howells delves into a much darker side of human nature with this bone-thrilling novel.
Kate lives in a small sleepy English village, she is an avid gardener and a horse trainer.
Rosie, the daughter of her friend, visits her often at the stables and they form a close bond.
Rosie goes missing and when her remains are discovered Kate throws herself into unveiling the truth. Rosie is from the prefect family, a normal family but they’re drowning in secrets.
Don’t even try and guess who the antagonist is as this isn’t your typical author-led mystery.
There are pop up surprises and shocks as well as sick to your stomach reveals.
I did not see that ending coming!
Trigger warning: child abuse and abortion.
