Jazzy tunes to heat up Highway

Linda Sikhakhane has a love and passion for music and will share this on stage at venues across Durban.

SOOTHE your soul with saxophonist, Linda Sikhakhane, who will perform at two Highway venues in May.

In association with Concerts SA, iSupport Music Business and Rainbow Restaurant Linda will take over Seaman’s Corner in Hammarsdale on Saturday, 6 May and Rainbow Restaurant in Pinetown on Sunday, 7 May.

Linda is 24-year old South African born saxophonist, composer and arranger.

His musical journey began in primary school with recorder lessons and his love for music, especially jazz, was triggered at an early age.

He attended music classes under the tutelage of the legendary Dr Brian Thusi and Khulekani Bhengu.

Later on in life he enrolled at UKZN to study jazz music and obtained a diploma in Jazz/Pop Music.

 

The talented saxophonist will perform across Durban this May.

 

He has played with a host of respected South African and international artists and features on Nduduzo Makhathini’s Mother Tongue album and formed part of Afrika Mkhize’s Septet, which performed at the Orbit’s second anniversary.

His line-up for the concerts will be Sakhile Simani on the flugel horn and trumpet, Sanele Phakathi on keys, Sphelelo Mazibuko on drums and Nhlanhla Radebe on double bass guitar.

Catch him on Saturday, 6 May at Seaman’s Corner (Unit 3, Mpumalanga Township) in Hammarsdale from 7pm. Tickets are R30 and can be purchased at the door.

Or visit the Rainbow Restaurant in Pinetown on Sunday, 7 May at 1pm. Tickets cost R80 each and can be purchased at www.webtickets.co.za.
