McIlroy comedy back by public demand

Aaron McIlroy delves into the science that underpins the world's oldest coping mechanism - a Sense of Humour.

MACBOB Productions presents a return season of Aaron McIlroy’s multi-award winning hit, Comedy Masterclass. This plays at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre in Durban from 21 to 26 March 2017.

Comedy Masterclass gives audiences a rare and hilarious peek into what goes on backstage, as Aaron McIlroy – star of Abbamaniacs, The Loser, The Ranga and a host of other hits – delves into the science that underpins the world’s oldest coping mechanism, a Sense of Humour.

Co-written by McIlroy and Patrick Kenny and directed by Kenny, the production takes the audience on a surreal, comedic roller-coaster ride into the world of laughter, where the rules are subjective and what one person finds funny another may cringe at!

Why do we find things funny? McIlroy attempts to answer the question: “Something is often funny because it captures a moment, it contains an element of truth as seen from a new angle, it is something that we have always known and yet are hearing it out loud for the first time.”

The Comedy Masterclass! plays for one week only. Shows are at 7.30pm Tuesday to Saturday, 21 to 25 March and at 6pm on Sunday, 26 March.

Tickets are R145 per person (R120 student and pensioner concessions). Book at Computicket. Call 0861 915 8000 or book online at www.comp uticket.com.
