Christmas Jazz and Fashion Fiesta to raise funds for DEAFSA

Durbanites are in for a treat with singer and songwriter Natalie Rungan, jazz guitarist Errol Earl as well as top SA fashion designers showcasing at the Christmas Jazz and Fashion Fiesta Evening.

FASHION forward Durbanites with a penchant for good jazz can looking forward to the Hombre Christmas Jazz and Fashion, Fiesta fundraising evening for DEAFSA on 16 December at the Misty Blu Spa Waterfront (old Docklands Hotel).

With Christmas just weeks away, the event is bound to get you ready for a fun festive season with some of the country’s most talented fashion designers, song birds and jazz artists.

Award-winning Hombre designer and organiser of the event, Vanessa Pillay, said beside Durban’s sultry songbird with the velvet voice Natalie Rungan, former South African jazz guitarist Errol Earl, who emigrated to Australia, will be performing at the event along with some surprise guest artists.

Pillay, who is involved in many youth development projects said she chose DEAFSA as a beneficiary because she wanted to create awareness in the community that the deaf youth are just like hearing youth and could be trained in any field and given the same opportunities as their peers. “I use my shows to create a platform in promoting these youngsters as aspiring models and designers and expose them to different fields of work to show them that they can achieve anything and become anybody they wish to be and that their disability should not stifle them,” she explained.

Top local designers showcasing at the event along with Hombr’e are Kazadi Wilson , Sandile Duke, Brenda Quin and Kwenzi Nkomo. Pillay said top model Jenelle Joanne Ramsami, an ambassador for Break the Silence- Hearing Aid Rocks will also be strutting her stuff on the catwalk along with surprise celebrity models.
