There has been changes to the programme from the featured poster.

DON’T miss the next Baroque 2000 concert at the Church of the Monastery in Mariannhill this Sunday, 25 September at 3pm.

The programme opens with Charpentier’s stirring overture for trumpet and strings to his grand Te Deum in D. Les Caractères de la Dance, (featuring additionally the timpani and percussion), by Rebel, a composer whose daring harmonies and rhythms greatly disconcerted the audiences of the day, and Leclair’s Trio Sonata in E minor op 2 no 1 are the other pieces from France. Telemann’s overture La Bizarre is named for the piece’s rhythmic irregularities.

Handel’s Sinfonia HWV 338 is the other work on the programme.

Tickets are R140 at the door. There is ample free and safe parking. The tea garden will offer special rates on breakfast and lunch for concert goers.
