Don your acting tights for Robin Hood panto

Aspiring actors, singers, dancers and triple threats are urged to audition for the Westville Theatre Club's latest panto.

THE Westville Theatre Club will hold auditions for its next panto, Heroes and Friends – the Sort of Real Adventures of Robin Hood, at its clubhouse, 6 St James Avenue, on Sunday, 18 September from 5pm, Monday, 19 September and Wednesday, 21 September at 7pm.

The auditions will start with a brief of the play and all aspiring actors are urged to be there before the starting times.

The producer of the panto is Mervin Lowe, who is no stranger to theatre, as he was involved with the Franklin Players in Johannesburg for many years and with the Westville Theatre Club since 2014. In 2015, he produced and directed the very successful Sleeping Beauty in the 21st Century.

“I am looking for actors, singers and dancers to make up a rather large cast,” said Mervin. Singers must prepare a song and take along a backing track if available. Dancers must prepare a piece with a backing track. Actors must also prepare a piece that will show off their stage prowess and scripts will be available. There are also backstage roles available for those not ready to be on stage yet but would like to be acclimatised to the theatre.

The panto will be staged at the Westville Theatre Club from Thursday, 1 to Sunday, 4 December and Wednesday, 7 to Saturday, 10 December with allowances for extra performances. Contact Mervin on 083 375 6661 or Dorothy on 083 776 1754.
