The metamorphosis from an insecure and angry young man to a proud father is inspirational and makes for absorbing theatre.

POPULAR Cape Town-based actor, David Muller, stars in the two-premiere run of Love Sex Fleas God (Confessions of a Stay-at-Home-Dad), at the Seabrooke’s Theatre in Musgrave from Wednesday, 14 September.

Directed by Celia Musikanth, Love Sex Fleas God is more than just the confessions of a stay-at-home father. David Muller (playing Bruce) in his and Musikanth’s adaptation of Bruce Clark’s book of the same title, traces Bruce’s life from childhood to fatherhood. It’s a journey from the stranglehold of a cult upbringing, to freedom and self-discovery which is frequently punctuated with comic and witty moments.

In this engaging one-man show, Muller morphs from one role to the next, as the audience witnesses a transcendence from a down-and-out abused teenager to a loving father of two children. As the story unfolds, the versatile Cape Town actor also essays the protagonist’s grandmother and mother, as Bruce’s insightful supportive wife allows him to be far more than just a stay-at-home dad. The metamorphosis from an insecure and angry young man to a proud father is inspirational and makes for absorbing theatre.
