Outstanding fantasy series is a must-read

Melissa Delport's fantasy series, the Guardians of Summerfeld, is now available in paperback.

LOCAL author and Hillcrest resident, Melissa Delport, recently released the paperback version of the nail-biting Guardians of Summerfeld series.

She said that it was the hidden magic behind the names and places in both Summerveld and the Midlands that inspired places and names in the book. “They just fit so fantastically in a fantasy world,” she said.

The books, The Cathedral of Cliffdale, The Fight of the Fallen, The Hope of Hawkstone and The Balance of the Blood, took her about 18 months to complete. “It’s a fantasy series that is easy to read, entertaining and it’s pure escapism and a unique concept,” said Melissa.

All her books feature a strong female protagonist and Melissa said this was simply because of the way she was raised. “My mother raised me to be independent and her whole parenting style was that women can do anything that a man can do. I really like the idea of powerful women who are strong on their own and who can be decisive,” said Melissa.

To grab a paperback copy, contact Melissa Delport through her website at www.melissadelport.com or via email at melissa@transmax.co.za. The cost is R140 per book or R450 for a set of four. If you are more techno savvy, you can download it on all e-book platforms.

The Cathedral of Cliffdale

Twelve Guardians are oath-bound to protect the mystical wards of Summerfeld from the hordes of revenge-driven vampires.

One of the legendary Guardians, Avery, was killed during a mission and no replacement for her position has come forward, the first time in the order’s long history. Quinn leaves the wards behind to look after her sister’s two children. She soon becomes embroiled in a rip-roaring journey and is forced to choose between family and those she is sworn to protect.

With two Guardians missing, the defence of Summerfeld is weakened and only by uniting their strength can they hope to save those within its magical protection.

It’s an awesome read and it might be a bit slow to start, but definitely one to stick with. The cliff-hanger ending will have you clambering for book two.

The Fight of the Fallen

This, the second book in the series, was jam-packed with action right from the first chapter up until another cliffhanger of an ending.

The characters are superbly written, the storyline moves at a breakneck speed and I honestly stayed up into the early hours of the morning because I simply could not put it down!

The Hope of Hawkstone

This book is filled to the brim with action, drama and suspense. It is an unputdownable read.

Melissa gives the reader an inkling as to how the story may play out but she does like to keep her audiences on their toes.

The Balance of the Blood

In the epic conclusion to Melissa Delport’s Guardians of Summerfeld series, Quinn is faced with the heavy burden of ensuring the survival of the wards she swore and oath to protect. The book is filled with plot twists and is an action-packed adventure ride! It is unputdownable and highly recommended to anyone who enjoys reading fantasy.
