KZNPO to play Beethoven’s youthful tunes

Tickets cost R150 each through St Agnes' Church.

DON’T miss the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra performance at St Agnes’ Church in Abelia Road, Kloof on Thursday, 30 June at 7.30pm.

Hosted in association with Christopher Duigan’s Music Revival, the KZN Philharmonic, slightly reduced to 40 players for this intimate setting, will play Ludwig van Beethoven’s youthful, celebratory Symphony No 2 and Piano Concerto No 3.

Pietermaritzburg-based Duigan, who is regarded as one of South Africa’s foremost concert pianists, is the soloist in the piano concerto, and the principal clarinettist of the orchestra, Junnan Sun, will feature in the serene Adagio from Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, as popularised in the film, Out of Africa.

American Daniel Walshaw, who also acts as the orchestra’s artistic administrator, will conduct the orchestra.

Tickets for the concert, which is part of a monthly concert series at the venue, are R150 each. Booking is essential – contact the church on 031 764 2037 or e-mail booking@musicrevival.co.za.
