Dave Monks and Marion Loudon entertain superbly in this collection of nostalgic and popular country hits.

GRAB your cowboy hats, boots and buckles and head down to The Rhumbelow Theatre in Umbilo as duo, Dave Monks and Marion Loudon, transport you to the land of country music this weekend.

Dave and Marion entertain superbly in this collection of nostalgic and popular country hits. The show, Sing Country, features covers from more than 20 different artists, which include Dolly Pardon, Johnny Cash, The Carpenters, Shania Twain, John Denver and Kenny Rodgers, just to name a few.

Marion’s amazing voice, vocal range and versatility never cease to shine, particularly in songs like The Carpenters worldwide smash hit, Jambalaya and Dolly Pardon’s evergreen classic, Jolene.

Dave features with some great guitar work and vocals as he glides through some songs like Ring of Fire, The Gambler, John Denver’s Country Roads and I’m Gonna Be a Country Boy Again.

Dave and Marion’s voices blend extremely well together as they have performed across South Africa, including Sun City, Swaziland, Johannesburg and at many corporate events and festivals. They have also been the voices behind many radio adverts and Marion Loudon has been the harmonising vocalist on all of Dave Monk’s solo CDs.

The show consists of a wide variety of great country songs plus some well thought-out medleys which will surely have your hands clapping and toes tapping.

Shows are on Friday, 27 May and Saturday, 28 May at 8pm, and on Sunday at 2pm and again at 6.30pm. The venue situated at 42 Cunningham Road, off Bartle Road in Umbilo and opens 90 minutes before show for a picnic dinner. Take along a food picnic basket. Braais and a bar will be available.
