Prestigious Gatsby Polo event planned for Shongweni

Dress up in true Gatsby Style feathers and pearls and be entertained by polo, stylish old timers and a fashion show.

SOCIALITES and horse lovers are invited to the Gatsby Corporate Polo Event at the Shongweni Polo Club on Sunday, 5 June.

The 1920s in France were known as the ‘années folles’ (crazy years), emphasising the era’s social, artistic and cultural dynamism. The Gatsby Polo event was inspired to remember these historical years.

Spectators may watch with excitement as top teams from Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape and the Free State will compete against each other in true fashion.

The Gatsby Polo event would like to party with a purpose by raising funds from the event, which will go towards Furthering Education and Training, a non-profit organisation to help underprivileged children and give them an opportunity to pursue their goals in life.

Official old-timer clubs will showcase their vintage cars as well as new luxury vehicles, which will be parked and displayed alongside the field for everyone to enjoy. To top it all off for the petrol heads, a vintage car show might be the highlight of the day.

During the day, a show-stopping fashion show will host its top fashion partners who will showcase their latest ready-to-wear designs. Models will be dressed in a modern inspiration, which was drawn from the fashion element of polo and its history. During the course of the day, organisers will award prizes for the best dressed.

For the women, the Gatsby Polo organisers have arranged touch-up stations for their make-up. Even hair stylists will be available to treat guests to a truly spoiled experience. Dress code is strictly a 1920s look to match the theme. There will be entertainment for children and a créche while you relax and enjoy some champagne and entertainment.

This tournament is one of the most prestigious events on the South African Polo calendar. Each of the four teams can be sponsored by a corporate brand. Corporates will have the opportunity to set up their own marquees or a corporate picnic site whereby they can invite their top clientèle for an exclusive, exciting and glamorous day out.

Standard tickets cost R100 each, a picnic table with seating for 10 people costs R4 000 or R400 each, which includes a picnic platter. There are other options for corporates wanting to entertain more guests. For bookings, contact www.itickets.co.za.
